Financial Donations
Stem cell donation is great and saves lives, but if you wish to help out in a different way then you can make a different type of donation - a financial donation! We would greatly appreciate any amount you are able to give!
Nearly everyone involved in running UR the Cure are volunteers so all money raised goes directly into covering our costs and directly into the programs and activities we run (see below to learn about the programs we run). UR the Cure is a registered charity with the ACNC and are an official partner of the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry and Strength to Give. Current projects:
Key project 1 - Donor drives
Facilitation of donor drives in the community - providing access to cheek swab kits, support, resources and other materials to people in the community who run a donor drive to add people onto the blood stem cell donor registry.
Key project 2 - Workplace and Community Education Program
Inviting and working with community groups and workplaces to participate in educating their members about the cause and encouraging them to join the donor registry. We provide the workplace or community groups with all the tools and resources needed to run an education event through their organisation and it can take many forms, for example sometimes it may be running a stall at university events, education for year 12 students at schools and more.
Key project 3 - Advocacy work
Advocacy related projects including lobbying for changes in the current Australian system, this can involve travel interstate for discussions and meetings with key stakeholders or presentations at conferences. See the Advocacy page for more information
Other projects and activities
Social media campaigns and advertising of educational messages including the sharing of patient stories who are searching for a match to be spread amongst the social media community
"Under 18 contacting program" - reminders are sent to people who are under the age of 18 that they are eligible to join The Registry once they turn 18
Presentations at community events
Media engagement through various media outlets including radio, newspaper and television
Meeting and networking with other organisations to help spread the message
Charity running costs such as charity registration fees, annual website fees, computer software licenses, printing costs and so on
